Common Room: Commercial Account Executive

Headquarters: Remote – US

URL: http://commonroom.io

About us

Common Room is the AI GTM Platform that empowers your teams with AI agents built on complete buyer intelligence. We unify every signal across the full buyer journey into one continuously-updated, person-level view—so your team knows exactly who to target and why, what to say, and when to reach out.

GTM teams are drowning in tool sprawl, fragmented data, and AI that doesn’t deliver. Common Room replaces your disconnected stack with one platform built for scale and complexity. We bring together data, orchestration, and execution in one system built for orgs of 75-1000+.

We’ve raised over $50 million from top-tier investors including Greylock, Index, and Madrona, and we’re backed by 25+ operators from companies like Figma, Stripe, Airtable, Slack, Notion, Loom, and more.

Why We Need You

We’re looking to take our company to the next level. You’re passionate about sales, excited to use Common Room to sell Common Room, and energized by the challenge of building pipeline, advancing complex deals, and driving real outcomes in an evolving GTM motion.

Our market is rapidly maturing, and customers are looking for partners who can help them transform how they think about go-to-market — moving beyond legacy tools and processes to an integrated, signal-driven approach. To win here, you’ll need grit, resilience, and the ability to influence change in organizations that are used to doing things a certain way.

Rather than just executing sales plays, you’ll help define what success looks like in a new category and continuously refine your approach to unlock growth.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Hunter mindset + pipeline ownership: Identify, qualify, and develop leads into high-value opportunities through both inbound and self-generated pipeline efforts.

  • Build deep empathy and trusted relationships with users and executive sponsors to understand needs, priorities, and success criteria.

  • Own the full sales cycle, including negotiation, procurement, and closing, while maintaining a sharp focus on outcomes.

  • Engage confidently with technical stakeholders to support onboarding readiness (e.g., data flows, integrations) that unlock customer value.

  • Partner closely with Solutions Consultants, Customer Success, and internal stakeholders to multi-thread deals and build durable relationships across buyer and executive teams.

  • Translate learnings from customer conversations into insights for product, marketing, and go-to-market strategy — helping shape the future of how we sell and how the product delivers value.

You’ll Enjoy Being a Member of the Team If You…

You thrive in roles that require ownership, adaptability, and resilience. You’re energized by shaping a motion rather than inheriting one.

You’ll fit well if you have:

  • Experience managing end-to-end SaaS sales cycles for complex products, with bonus points for familiarity with PLG or PLS motions.

  • A track record of consistent pipeline generation, quota achievement, and growth — showing that you can turn ambiguity into results.

  • Previous experience at growth-stage companies, ideally with developer tools, data analytics, or value-based selling to sales and marketing organizations.

  • A solution-based approach to selling and the ability to manage a sales process with both strategic and tactical rigor.

  • Excellent presentation, listening, organization, and contact management capabilities.

  • A hands-on approach to technical concepts, able to lead technical discussions internally and externally with stakeholders of all levels.

  • A strong desire and willingness to learn, adapt, and build as our product and processes evolve over time.

  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings, events, and team offsites when it meaningfully advances relationships or deals.

In Your First Week, Expect To:

  • Dive deep into core personas and use cases for Common Room.

  • Understand how Common Room differentiates from other GTM tools and why our approach is transformative.

  • Meet your team and cross-functional partners including Marketing, RevOps, Solutions, and Product leadership.

In Your First Month, Expect To:

  • Become proficient at leading discovery, demos, POCs, and deal closing/negotiation.

  • Know the Common Room messaging and value props rigorously, and begin adding your own spin to drive results.

  • Wrap your arms around your existing book of business (use cases, buyer maps, etc.).

  • Close your first deal(s) in the Commercial segment — with cycle times as short as two weeks.

In Your First Three Months, Expect To:

  • Be fully ramped with sufficient pipeline coverage to achieve next quarter’s target.

  • Become a trusted advisor on GTM tools and a resource for customers navigating transformation.

  • Contribute best practices to the team that increase win rates, velocity, and deal size.

  • Mentor newer AEs and help shape the hiring profile as we continue building the team.

The compensation range for this position is between $180K – $250K OTE (plus equity) depending on experience.

Our values

  • Be Customer-centric – We work backwards from the needs of our customers. The crisp articulation of customer value guides our decisions.

  • Strive for Simplicity – We choose simplicity over complexity whenever possible. We seek to identify and understand the essential quality of what we are building.

  • Make it Happen – We are quick to take the first step, and prioritize decisiveness over fear of making a mistake. We don’t confuse motion for movement and we measure ourselves on impact over actions.

  • We’re In this Together – We measure personal success by the success of our customers and teammates. Relationships matter, and the strongest ones are built on the foundations of trust, enablement, and transparency.

Our benefits

Our investment in caring for our employees and their families is a key part of our values and culture at Common Room:

  • Monthly Remote Stipend

  • 401(k) self contribution

  • Paid Family Leave

  • Opportunity to join a diverse, passionate, and fun team at a pivotal time in the company’s lifecycle

About the team

The Onboarding and Compliance Risk Strategy team serves as a key risk management function that partners with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to bring products to market safely and responsibly. We’re seeking a strategic-minded and collaborative risk professional to build and scale the risk management and compliance foundations for our Financial Account products, our new and existing credit products, and the global payment networks that power them.

What you’ll do

Stripe is building new products that expand the scope of problems we tackle beyond payments and into the rest of the financial stack. Right now this includes Capital, Financial Accounts, and Issuing—and there’s more on the way. Stripe is a technology company that operates within the financial services industry, and you’ll need to be comfortable straddling both of those worlds every day. You’ll thrive working at the intersection of an emerging sector and a traditional industry, seeking creative solutions to traditional problems, and enabling the business responsibly while moving with urgency and focus. We’re currently hiring for two roles, one with a focus on lending products and another with the focus on global payment networks. If you have experience with either and meet the below qualifications, please apply.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and 2LOD teams to design and implement data-driven, risk-based KYC/KYB frameworks and compliance controls for our Financial Account, Capital, and Issuing products.

  • Develop and maintain technical compliance documentation, translating complex regulatory requirements (e.g., U.S. lending laws, payment network rules) into actionable guidance for product and engineering teams.
  • Manage relationships and drive alignment across a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders, including Legal, Customer Support, Partnerships, and 2LOD Compliance, ensuring all voices are heard and decisions are made effectively.

  • Extend your expertise to new regions and payment schemes, learning new regulatory and technical landscapes to enable international expansion.
  • Utilize data to inform risk strategy, compliance solutions, and decision-making by sourcing and analyzing product and user data to measure control effectiveness.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 5 years of professional experience in compliance, product risk, technical compliance, audit, or similar risk roles at a FinTech, payment provider, or bank.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing risk-based KYC and KYB programs for business or merchant onboarding.
  • Proven experience working at a technical level with product managers and engineers, with an ability to design solutions and write technical requirements documentation.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects with numerous cross-functional stakeholders, driving consensus, and managing expectations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging directly with external partners and instilling confidence.
  • Experience sourcing and using data to analyze problems, inform strategic decisions, and measure control effectiveness.

About the Role:
We are building systems that operate at scale – high write volumes, real-time state sync, and burst traffic that doesn’t politely warn before it arrives. We are looking for engineers who love owning systems end-to-end, care deeply about performance and reliability, and want to build things that don’t just work – but last. This is not a ticket-execution role, its a system ownership role.

Responsibilities:

  • Backend System Ownership:
  • Design and evolve Node.js / NestJS services powering systems that operate at scale
  • Take architectural decisions that balance scale, cost, and long-term maintainability

  • API Craftsmanship:
  • Build well-typed, thoughtful REST contracts for high volume flows
  • Think in versioning, backward compatibility, and clean boundaries

  • Data at Scale:
  • Model and optimize MongoDB / Firestore schemas for high read/write workloads
  • Design atomic updates and consistency strategies for distributed systems

  • Scalability & Resilience:
  • Implement queues, caching layers, and rate limiting to handle burst traffic gracefully
  • Design for failure modes before they happen

  • Frontend Integration:
  • Ship modular Vue 3 UIs that efficiently consume APIs
  • Optimize realtime updates and state management (Pinia)
  • Improve Core Web Vitals and perceived performance

  • Observability & Production Ownership:
  • Instrument logs, metrics, traces, and alerts
  • Participate in on-call
  • Debug real production issues
  • Drive post-mortems to meaningful closure (not just documents)

  • Mentorship & Leverage:
  • Review code thoughtfully
  • Support junior engineers
  • Raise engineering standards across the team

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of professional engineering experience
  • Strong backend-heavy fullstack background
  • Deep comfort with Node.js + TypeScript
  • Experience building and scaling microservices (NestJS / Express)
  • Modern frontend experience (Vue 3 or similar)
  • Strong understanding of: API design, Data modeling, Distributed systems tradeoffs, Concurrency & rate limiting
  • Real production debugging experience
  • Comfortable in cloud-native environments (GCP / AWS)
  • CI/CD and containerization familiarity

Nice to Have:

  • Pub/Sub or message queue experience
  • Event-driven systems exposure
  • Domain-driven design familiarity
  • Performance optimization work
  • Experience reducing infra costs
